Signalta Power’s Senior Executive team have on average of over 45 years of industry experience and key personnel average more than 30 years. Management is creative and value driven with a focus on quality, portfolio/statistical analysis, and risk management. Leverage our depth of experience and valuable long term relationships.

The Signalta team is comprised of a lean management team and over 100 field personnel. The company is engineering-oriented and value-driven with a focus on quality, portfolio analysis, and risk management. Minimal corporate hierarchy ensures efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Accountable to its investors and committed to delivering results, OPEX and G&A costs are at 2/3 of peer group averages. The CEO and COO receive no salary compensation and creative talent are paid at 50% to 67% of industry averages. All team members are driven by investment incentives.

S. Robert Chad leads and manages the Signalta Power business development, and he is also a major investor in the U.S. based initiative.

HOWARD SORENSEN, CEO & CHAIRMAN

  • Graduated from the University of Alberta in 1970 with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering.

  • 45+ years of industry experience; member Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).

  • Joined Signalta in 1978 and assumed the position of President in early 1985 and Chairman in 1991 .

ROB CHAD, PRESIDENT & COO

  • President and COO of Signalta since 1992.

  • Prior to that, Chad held the position of Vice President, Engineering for six years.

  • Obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University in 1982 and is a professional engineer registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).

  • Received a Masters in the Science of Management (Honours) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1985.

HOOMAN MASHAYEKHI, SENIOR POWER ENGINEER

  • Joined Signalta in 2019.

  • Associated with various manufacturing and industrial concerns over the last 20 years.

  • Graduated from Sharif University in Tehran, Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Australian and Canadian P.Eng.

COLIN THOMPSON, PRODUCTION & OPERATIONS ENGINEER

  • Joined Signalta in 2008.

  • 15 years of industry experience.

  • Graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).

ALISON WEEKS, REGULATORY SPECIALIST

  • Joined Signalta in 2013.

  • 13 years of industry experience.

  • Associated with various regulatory agencies and associations.

  • Graduated from NAIT in 2010 in Mechanical Engineering Technology, holding professional certifications from ASET, NACE and API.

LEANDRO TOMEI, SR. POWER ANALYST

  • Jointed Signalta in 2021.

  • Graduated from Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology as an Electrical Engineering Technologist in 1979.

  • 40+ years of utility experience with TransAlta Corp / FortisAlberta / Signalta.

  • Master System Operator (18 Years), Sr. Maintenance Planner (10 Years), and Key Account Manager (11 Years).

JUAN PABLO FRANCO CLARKE, ANALYST

  • Joined Signalta in 2021.

  • Received his Bachelor of Science in Public Management and Policy from the University of Arizona.

JOHN K. (KIM) REID, GENERAL COUNSEL

  • Joined Signalta as General Counsel in 2005.

  • From 1992 to 2005, co-founded and was a partner in the law firm of Tingle, Reid and Olson, which provided income tax planning services to high net worth clients.

  • Prior thereto, Reid was a partner in the law firm of Atkinson McMahon with a practice focused on securities and commercial law.
